decompression is key! let them settle in, dont overwhelm with attention right away. 3-3-3 rule: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn routine, 3 months to feel at home

have a safe quiet space ready for them. crate with blanket over it works great

dont judge their personality the first week. theyre stressed and wont show their true self yet

take lots of pics for the adoption page! good photos help them get adopted faster
